As is customary ALMA Exco is organising a Hajj send-off get-together as part of our annual programme to these fortunate individuals, In Sha Allah on Sunday 23 July 2017, at the Auburn Council Hall, commencing at 6.30 PM. This event will give all of us an opportunity to meet, greet and to wish them well on their pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

We would also like to extend this invitation to any others who are intending to perform Hajj this year but have not yet communicated it to ALMA, to participate in this programme

Farewell Dinner for High Commissioner H.E. Walgampaya

The Sri Lankan expatriate community in Sydney under the patronage of the Sri Lanka Consul Generals Office in Sydney paid tribute to the services rendered by His Excellency Senaka Walgampaya (PC) and Madam Dilrukshi Walgampaya over the last three years in Canberra at a very critical passage of time. The event was a dinner on Saturday 6th November 2010 at the Blue Elephant restaurant in Pennant Hills where more than 100 Sri Lankan expatriate community members including presidents and leaders of local community organisations with a Sri Lankan interest participated.

ALMA EXCO 2010 Finalised

ALMA AGM on Saturday 16 October 2010 elected the four officer bearers of ALMA for 2010-2012 period. Br. Mohamed Fazli and Br. Rizvi Fareed were re-elected as president and vice president respectively. Br. Mohamed Anzar was elected to the postion of secretary and Br. Alisabri Haniffa was elected to the position of treasurer. The AGM decided to allow the elected office bearers to appoint the remaining executive committee members. ALMA is pleased to announce the following members as the executive committee members of ALMA for the next two years, Insha Allah.

The AGM did not appoint a new  auditor and therefore the executive committee has asked Br. Fazal Bawa to continue in the postion as finance auditor. ALMA executive committee will meet soon to discuss the year planner and to appoint sub committees, Insha Allah.

 

High Commissioner H.E. Senaka Walgampaya completes his Australian tenure

The Sri Lankan Consul General in Sydney Hon. P.D. Fernando in an email message has informed ALMA and other Associations affiliated with the Consulate Office that His Excellency Senaka Walgampaya High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Australia for the last three years, will be relinquishing his duties at the end of November 2010 after completing his tour of duties.

Hajj Farewell 2010

ALMA conducted its sixth consecutive Hajj farewell ceremony on Sunday 17 October 2010 at the Auburn Town Hall to wish the pilgrims "Hajj Mabroor". They will be undertaking the sacred journey to Mecca this year Insha Allah and will be leaving Sydney within the next two weeks. Majority of the pilgrims from the ALMA community who have decided to take part in the Hajj journey this year participated in the event. The farewell ceremony was organised as a part of the ACEP program where a large number of well wishers also participated to exchange salams.

Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations dinner 2010

As you are aware, ALMA brought to you a series of events as part of Ramadhan activities in 2010. Alhamdulillah we are now at the final event of that scheduled events: "ALMA Eid celebrations and dinner". This event is scheduled for Saturday 18 September 2010 at the Dundas community centre, 21 Sturt Street Telopia.

The agenda for the day also includes giving away prizes for winners of "ALMA Ramadhan competition" that was held during the last two weeks of Ramadhan. The hall opens at 5.00 pm and we have allocated plenty of time for a joyful evening.

AGM 2010 elects new ALMA team

ALMA AGM was held yesterday (Saturday 16 October 2010) at the Dundas Community Centre. The program for the day began at 6.30 pm with a Children's performance to kick off proceedings. Following Qirat recitation, the children's program included songs, poems speeches and a Powerpoint presentation on "Poverty and Islam".

AGM proper began after Salat Maghrib with Br. Mohamed Fazli delivering the opening address as incumbent president. The minutes were read by the Secretary Br. Azeem Nilar followed by the AGM report. The AGM report summarised the activities of ALMA throughout the year and highlighted key achievements.

ALMA calls for AGM - 2010 on Saturday16th October

ALMA secretary Br. Azeem Nilar has given notice to the membership that Saturday 16 October will be the date for the next AGM Insha Allah. The venue for the occasion will be Dundas Community Centre, 21 Sturt Street Telopia.

As per the email notice, the hall opens at 5.00 pm and as part of the AGM event a children's program and Dinner is also organised. All children who wish to take part in the children's program are requested to register via email reply so that opportunities to participate could be efficiently managed.

25th Anniversary Cricket Tournament winners

The Cricket tournament organised by ALMA making their 25th Anniversary Celebrations ended on a very high note of success.   12 Teams participated and after a nail biting semi-finals, Six Hearts became the clear winners on the day.

 
Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner function July 2016

ALMA had its annual Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner which also contained a segment of ACEP Ramadan competition prize giving as well. This function was attended by a sold-out record crowd of this nature ALMA ever had. It had several activities including trivia and kids games which kept all attendees fully engaged throughout the program.

 

 
Ifthar function June 2016

On the invitation of the leader of the opposition (Parliament of NSW) and MP for Auburn, Hon Luke Foley, ALMA’s liaison officer Abdul Gafoor attended an Iftar function on 17th June 2016. Number of dignitaries including Grand Mufti of Australia, state and federal politicians, Islamic scholars, community leaders, leading school principals were among the invited guests.

 
Edul Fithr July 2016

Alhamdulillah, ALMA had a great Eid Celebration on 6 July 2016 at Turkish Mosque (Youth Centre) in Auburn. A large number of people attended for prayers and thereafter everyone exchanged salams and greetings with each other.
