ALMA conducted its sixth consecutive Hajj farewell ceremony on Sunday 17 October 2010 at the Auburn Town Hall to wish the pilgrims "Hajj Mabroor". They will be undertaking the sacred journey to Mecca this year Insha Allah and will be leaving Sydney within the next two weeks. Majority of the pilgrims from the ALMA community who have decided to take part in the Hajj journey this year participated in the event. The farewell ceremony was organised as a part of the ACEP program where a large number of well wishers also participated to exchange salams.
ALMA secretary Br. Azeem Nilar has given notice to the membership that Saturday 16 October will be the date for the next AGM Insha Allah. The venue for the occasion will be Dundas Community Centre, 21 Sturt Street Telopia.
As per the email notice, the hall opens at 5.00 pm and as part of the AGM event a children's program and Dinner is also organised. All children who wish to take part in the children's program are requested to register via email reply so that opportunities to participate could be efficiently managed.
As you are aware, ALMA brought to you a series of events as part of Ramadhan activities in 2010. Alhamdulillah we are now at the final event of that scheduled events: "ALMA Eid celebrations and dinner". This event is scheduled for Saturday 18 September 2010 at the Dundas community centre, 21 Sturt Street Telopia.
High Commissioner's office in Canberra has released a communique in relation to Visa Requirements to Sri Lanka. This will apply to Australian Passport holders, if this comes into force from January 2011 as anticipated. Thanks to Br. Abdul Gafoor for bringing this information to our attention.

Dr. Abdullah Periyardhasan is a highly renowned psychologist from India whose life journey from Polytheism to Atheism and then to Monotheism is intriguing and fascinating. He is also a visiting professor at the University of California in the USA and a former film actor in India.
As per our earlier notification, Alhamdulillah over 200 brothers and sisters have confirmed to participate at the Eid celebrations and dinner event and a few others have sent their regrets. For the benefit of those who are participating, we would like to inform the agenda for the evening.

Alhamdulillah, ALMA members and friends contributed $1670 towards Zakat-ul-Fitr fund in 2010. As you are aware Zakat-ul-Fitr is compulsory on every fasting Muslim who has food to celebrate on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr. The spirit of Zakat-ul-Fitr is to ensure all Muslims have food to eat on the day of Eid. Alhamdulillah, our members and friends have contributed $10 each for this fund.
