Welcome to Austra-Lanka Muslim Association (ALMA)
ALMA had its first (of the four) Ifthars this Ramadan on 11th June 2016 at Auburn Town Hall. Alhamdulillah, over 400 people were estimated to be present. An inspiring speech was delivered by Zac Matthews (Dr Zachariah Matthews) soon after Magrib prayers.
ALMA had the opportunity to launch the much awaited JANAZA fund and introduce the Janaza Subcommittee on that night. Alhamdulillah, over 75 family and individual members were signed up for this programme immediately. Members were also generous enough to contribute to the annual dry-rations project - the funds of which will be sent to Sri Lanka and distributed among poor and needy families in various parts of Sri Lanka next week Insha Allah.
Notice is hereby given to the members that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Austra Lanka Muslim Association Inc. (ALMA) will be held at the Auburn Town Hall, 1 Susan St, Auburn 2144 on Saturday, 17 August 2013 at 6:30PM.

[8 July 2013]
The new moon of Ramadhan has NOT been sighted anywhere in Australia or any neighbouring countries tonight (Monday, 8 July 2013). Accordingly, ALMA EXCO has made decision to begin the month of Ramadhan from Wednesday, 10th July. Along with Imam Council of NSW, many other associations in Sydney too have concluded that the month of Sha'ban will be completed with 30 days.
Tharaweeh prayers will be held in most of the mosques from tomorrow night. Please check your local mosque for further details.
Insha Allah, an email with details of the four Ifthar and Lylathul Qadr night programmes will be circulated shortly.
ALMA EXCO wish everyone a blessed and spiritual month of Ramadhan.
ALL praise is due to Allaah, and may He render our Prophet Muhammad safe from every derogatory thing, and exalt his mention, and the mention of his household and Companions.
Ibn Abbaas, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) said: There are no days during which good deeds are more beloved to Allah than these days; meaning the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. They inquired: Not even Jihad in the cause of Allah? He said: Not even Jihad in the cause of Allah, unless one goes out for Jihad sacrificing both his life and property and returning with neither. (Al-Bukhaari)
Insha Allah, ALMA will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, tomorrow Thursday, 9th August 2013. We apologise for any inconvenience due to this late announcement as we had to wait for confirmation.

The Gillard Government will extend tourist visas for parents of Australian citizens and permanent residents to enable them to visit their family in Australia for longer, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Chris Bowen MP, announced today.
'I know that many people are patiently waiting in the queue for a parent visa so we want to provide more generous tourist visas to enable regular extended family visits,' Mr Bowen said.
