ALMA members and friends join me to extend our heartfelt condolences to Br. Nufail, his family and friends here in Australia and Sri Lanka at this great loss. Sr. Azaria who has served in the ALMA executive committee for a number of years will be fondly remembered for her dedicated service and leadership. For many of our children in the ALMA community, Aunty Azaria will be a great loss.

Br. Nufail who had been in Sri Lanka with Sr. Azaria for the last couple of weeks arrived in Sydney last night. Upon his arrival he has spoken over the phone to Sr. Azaria informing her of his safe journey. However half an hour later, to his great shock he received a call informing him of her passing. ALMA will organise Janaza Ghaib prayers on Friday 7th January 2011 at the Auburn Town Hall Insha Allah immediately after Maghrib prayers (approximately 8.30 pm). The date and location will be confirmed in another email after checking (for the availability of the venue) with the Auburn City Council tomorrow. Please check the ALMA website ( for updates in the next couple of days.

Prior to Janaza Ghaib prayers, we will organise "Khatam al Qur'an" at 7.00 pm on the same day. Those who wish to participate please bring a Qur'an with you. Depending on the number of participants for Khatam al Qur'an, we will allocate each person to recite probably half a chapter.
