ALMA to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on Friday 26 October 2012

First day Dhul Hijja started on Wednesday, 17th October 2012 and accordingly Austra-Lanka Muslim Association (ALMA) will Insha Allah celebrate Eid-ul-Adhha on Friday 26 October 2012.

ALMA has made arrangements for Eid prayers and breakfast at Auburn Park (Cnr of Macquarie Rd and Simpson Street, Auburn 2144).

Thakbeer - 7:30 AM

Prayers/Quthba - 8:00 AM

Followed by exchange of Salams & wishes, and breakfast.

This time ALMA is catering breakfast and will charge $5 per head to cover associated costs. Children under 5 years will be catered to free of charge! Please contact Sis Roshan or Bro Alisabri for details.

To assist with catering, we would greatly appreciate it if you could confirm (at your earliest), by return mail, your participation at the Eid breakfast.


As in the past years ALMA, in association with Human Appeal International, will facilitate Udhiyya (Qurban) for those who intend to perform this noble act. Cost of a Qurban will be $100 and you can purchase the respective tickets by contacting Bros Alisabri Haniffa or Ramzeen Casim or by confirming your intention via a mail to us.

Virtues of last ten days of Dhul Hijja

Brothers and sisters; as you are aware, the first ten days are the best ten days of the year similar to the last ten nights of Ramadan where those ten nights are the best ten nights of the year. There are number of acts of worships one can perform by taking advantage of this 10 days.

Following are few useful points we wish to list for your reading. A detailed article has also been published here for those who want to read more about the Virtues of last ten days of Dhul Hijja and make use of these days to their advantage.

  • It is a Sunnah to fast the first nine days and if not at least the ninth day (the day of Arafah).
  • It is a Sunnah to give Qurban in the days of Thashreeq; and there are rules that a person needs to observe such as not clipping the nails or not cutting the hair until the Qurban  is given.
  • Seeking repentance and relinquishing acts of disobedience and all sins, in order to acquire forgiveness and mercy.

25th Anniversary Cricket Tournament winners

The Cricket tournament organised by ALMA making their 25th Anniversary Celebrations ended on a very high note of success.   12 Teams participated and after a nail biting semi-finals, Six Hearts became the clear winners on the day.

Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner function July 2016

ALMA had its annual Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner which also contained a segment of ACEP Ramadan competition prize giving as well. This function was attended by a sold-out record crowd of this nature ALMA ever had. It had several activities including trivia and kids games which kept all attendees fully engaged throughout the program.


Ifthar function June 2016

On the invitation of the leader of the opposition (Parliament of NSW) and MP for Auburn, Hon Luke Foley, ALMA’s liaison officer Abdul Gafoor attended an Iftar function on 17th June 2016. Number of dignitaries including Grand Mufti of Australia, state and federal politicians, Islamic scholars, community leaders, leading school principals were among the invited guests.

Edul Fithr July 2016

Alhamdulillah, ALMA had a great Eid Celebration on 6 July 2016 at Turkish Mosque (Youth Centre) in Auburn. A large number of people attended for prayers and thereafter everyone exchanged salams and greetings with each other.
