ALMA together with nine (9) other organisations representing Sri Lankan Muslims across Australia jointly signed and sent a letter to The Prime Minister Hon Tony Abbott, Foreign Minster Hon Julie Bishop and Minister for Immigration and Border Protection Hon Scott Morrison urging the Australian government to reconsider their decision to allow Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) Secretary General Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero to visit the country.

This letter also drew attention on the recent ant-Muslim riots in Aluthgama, Beruwela and Dharga Town that Gnanasara Thero is accused of having instigated, pointed out he should not be allowed into Australia as he fails to pass the character test defined in Section 501 (06) of the Migration Act of 1958.

  1. Austra-Lanka Muslim Association Inc (ALMA), NSW
  2. Australia Sri Lanka Association Inc (ASLA), VIC
  3. InsightOz Inc, VIC
