ALMA Communication Policy - For Members' Information

Maintaining reliable and effective communication is vital for the successful running of ALMA. This policy aims to promote clear means for communicating ALMA values, targets, developments, feedback, decisions and issues and sets criteria for communications.

The policy has been drawn up bearing the following in mind

  • providing timely information regarding matters of interest to membership
  • actively seeking and acting on feedback
  • encouraging membership to communicate and giving them a clear path to raise issues
  • enhancing the commitment of the EXCO
  • informing membership of the financial factors and other issues
  • raising awareness of achievements of membership
  • promoting ALMA and professional communication within ALMA
  • promoting consistency and uniformity in ALMA position

The following extracted part of Communication Policy Document, 7. Operational Guidelines has been written in the form as a notice to the membership with a view to making it available to the membership.

7.  Operational Guidelines

7.1. The following forms a part of the ALMA Communications Policy.

7.2. The ALMA membership is encouraged to provide feedback, send queries and provide constructive criticism in the interest of promoting ALMA and making it better.

7.5. Please bear in mind that ALMA EXCO are volunteers working on tight schedules. The following shall apply to communications with ALMA in line with clause 3. General Guidelines. The communication shall

7.5.1.   use clear and plain and concise language

7.5.2.   be open, honest and transparent

7.5.3.   be relevant, accurate, sensitive and timely

7.5.4.   enable meaningful communication between stakeholders

7.5.5.   recognise the importance and value of engaging with others and preserve respect and dignity of those involved

7.5.7.   respect confidentiality, privacy, and relevant legislation

7.5.8.  be in line with Islamic principles and values.

Events & Activities
25th Anniversary Cricket Tournament winners

The Cricket tournament organised by ALMA making their 25th Anniversary Celebrations ended on a very high note of success.   12 Teams participated and after a nail biting semi-finals, Six Hearts became the clear winners on the day.

 
Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner function July 2016

ALMA had its annual Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner which also contained a segment of ACEP Ramadan competition prize giving as well. This function was attended by a sold-out record crowd of this nature ALMA ever had. It had several activities including trivia and kids games which kept all attendees fully engaged throughout the program.

 

 
Ifthar function June 2016

On the invitation of the leader of the opposition (Parliament of NSW) and MP for Auburn, Hon Luke Foley, ALMA’s liaison officer Abdul Gafoor attended an Iftar function on 17th June 2016. Number of dignitaries including Grand Mufti of Australia, state and federal politicians, Islamic scholars, community leaders, leading school principals were among the invited guests.

 
Edul Fithr July 2016

Alhamdulillah, ALMA had a great Eid Celebration on 6 July 2016 at Turkish Mosque (Youth Centre) in Auburn. A large number of people attended for prayers and thereafter everyone exchanged salams and greetings with each other.
