Ramadhan Mubarak

Following consultation with major Masjids in Sydney ALMA would like to inform that fasting begins on Saturday 22 August 2009 Insha Allah. ALMA executive committee wishes Ramadhan Mubarak to all its members and friends for a very beneficial month filled with piety and good deeds. Please note that Taraweeh prayers therefore will start tomorrow night (Friday).

ALMA has consistently followed the majority community to decide the days of beginning of fasting and the days of Eid. ALMA recognises that some members of the muslim community in Sydney would be starting the month of Ramadhan at different dates.

While Allah (SWT) is accomodating enough to accept the fasting of all Muslims whenever they fast, we find arguments leading to disputes is counter productive and is detrimental to the more important unity, friendship, mutual respect and community harmony among the broader muslim community.

ALMA also wishes to remind its members and friends of the Iftar events scheduled for Saturdays. Please refer to previous postings for the dates and venues.
