Sri Lanka Consulate Plans to establish Sydney Business Council
Austra Lanka Muslim Association (ALMA) was among the Sydney-based Associations with a Sri Lankan background that were invited for a meeting with the Sri Lanka Cousul General in Sydney, Mr. P.D. Fernando on 20th October 2009 at the Sri Lanka Consulate Office to discuss a number of issues including the establishment of a Business Council of Sydney for the business community with an interest in investments in Sri Lanka.
ALMA was represented by Mohamed Fazli at the meeting that included ten other Sydney based associations with a Sri Lankan background.
The meeting discussed the following issues.
1. Invitation by HE the President for Sri Lankan expatriates for a meeting on 14th & 15th November 2009 in Colombo
2. Calendar of key events for Sri Lankan Associations in Sydney
3. Arrangements for Independence Day celebrations in February 2010
4. Compilation of Sri Lankan owners/CEOs of business establishments to discuss ways and means of promoting Sri Lanka’s exports and investment from Australia to Sri Lanka and Establishing a Sri Lanka Business Council in Sydney.
The participating associations were requested to provide information about the business community in Sydney to enable the consulate office to proceed with making arrangements with key stake holders.
