Sewing Classes - ALMA secures funding

Under a state government initiative, the Premier's Department asked for expression of interest from community organisations to submit applications to receive funding for community projects, late last year. This initiative is called "Community Building Partnerships", a project managed by the "Communities NSW" section of the Premier's Department.

ALMA submitted applications for a number of projects including a project to conduct sewing classes for interested sisters in our community.

Alhamdulillah, we are pleased to inform you that the sewing classes project has been successful in securing funding and a $10,000 grant has been approved for implmenting the project in June this year. The initial project duration is for a six month period where ALMA executive committee has drawn up plans for about 10 lessons.

The funding will cover the cost of purchasing sewing machines, accessories, and materials for the first round of this project. Insha Allah, further classes will be scheduled based on demand and experience gained from implmenting the first phase.

ALMA executive committee has held talks with a couple of voluntary trainers and we would like to receive your expression of interest to be participants under this project. Ladies and girls over the age of 15 years may apply. As there are limited number of places, please send in your applications by email or contact us for further details.

The venue for the classes will be Regents Park Community Hall and/or Auburn Town Hall. More details regarding the project will be given in due course to those selected to follow the first phase of the project.
