Ramadan Mubarak - Fasting begins Wednesday 11 August 2010

RAMADHAN ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Brothers and Sisters
Assalamu Alaikum

Following consultation with major Masjids in Sydney we can now confirm that fasting begins on Wednesday 11 August 2010 Insha Allah. ALMA executive committee joins me to extend Ramadhan Mubarak to all members and friends for a very beneficial month of Ramadan. Please note that Taraweeh prayers therefore will start tonight (Tuesday).

We understand that a significant number of Muslims will begin fasting on Thursday as well. Therefore we should refrain from vain argument on the matter of "who is right" where highly respected Islamic scholars themselves have not found consensus. We should however remember that Allah (SWT) is generous enough to accept the fasting of all Muslims and open the gates of Al-Rayyan for all.

ALMA has consistently followed the majority community to decide the days of beginning of fasting and the days of Eid.

Please remember to visit this website (www.alma.org.au) for latest updates on ALMA/ACEP announcements.
