ALMA supports Serendib scholarship fund 2010

For the fifth consecutive year ALMA has supported the Serendib Scholarship Fund to assist needy students in Sri Lanka continue their studies in universities and Sharia Colleges. In the last four years ALMA members and friends contributed over $56,000 where Human Appeal International joined to boost the fund beyond $82,000.

The fund raising campaign in 2010 coincided with the final Iftar gathering on 04 September 2010 at the Dundas community centre where over 250 participants graced the occasion. The pledges of support for the fund during the Iftar night reached nearly $22,000 and therefore pushed the total contribution in the last five years above the $100,000 mark. Insha Allah with some assistance from Human Appeal International, it is expected for the funding in 2010 to be the largest funding-year to-date.

ALMA wishes to congratulate the fund raising team keenly led by Br. Ubaidur Rahmaan with great assistance provided to him by Br. Madani Basha, Br. Mohideen Abdul Gafoor, Br. Naleem Siddeek and Br. Murad Hassain.
