Ramadhan Programs in 2010 Successful

Alhamdulillah, ALMA has successfully concluded its Ramadhan programs as planned in 2010. The executive committee met to plan the events during Ramadhan three months prior to the beginning of Ramadhan where weekend Iftars and a Qiyamul Lail event was determined. Therefore four Iftars on the
four Saturdays in Ramadhan and a Qiyamul Lail event on the last Friday of the month to coincide with the beginning of the 25th fast was scheduled. It was decided to continue the annual Ramadhan competition for children during this year as well.

The four Iftars had participants between 250 and 300 attending each event while the Qiyamul Lail event attracted over 80 devoted worshipers who stayed up all night until the dawn prayer. We make dua that all good deeds are accepted by Allah (SWT) and all are included in the great blessings of Qiyamul Lail.

Special thanks are also due to the four invited speakers during the Iftar events - Br. Jalal Chami, Br. Mohamed Zoud, Dr. Zachariah Matthews and Br. Mazen Fehmi. Dr. Ahmad Aseri and Sheikh Saeed Al Qahtani led the prayers and delivered a speech respectively during the Qiyamul Lail event and the ALMA executive committee would like to convey their gratitude for the devotion and effort of all invited guests who contributed immensely towards making the events memorable.

The organising of the first three Iftars including funding were undertaken by three participating groups led by Br. Rizvi Fareed, Br. Kaleer Lebbe and Br. Jabeer Cader while the fourth Iftar and the Qiyamul Lail events were organised by the ALMA executive committee with great assistance from a number of volunteer
members and friends. Funding for the fourth Iftar and the Qiyamul Lail program came from voluntary contributions from members.

ALMA executive committee extends its sincere thanks to all volunteers who have come forward to organise the traditional Eid breakfast. Separate report on ALMA Eid program and information on the forthcoming Eid celebrations on Saturday 18th September will be posted soon.
