AGM 2010 elects new ALMA team

ALMA AGM was held yesterday (Saturday 16 October 2010) at the Dundas Community Centre. The program for the day began at 6.30 pm with a Children's performance to kick off proceedings. Following Qirat recitation, the children's program included songs, poems speeches and a Powerpoint presentation on "Poverty and Islam".

AGM proper began after Salat Maghrib with Br. Mohamed Fazli delivering the opening address as incumbent president. The minutes were read by the Secretary Br. Azeem Nilar followed by the AGM report. The AGM report summarised the activities of ALMA throughout the year and highlighted key achievements.

The finance report was presented by the treasurer Br. Mageeid Mohamed that showed the member contributions and expenses for various activities undertaken by the ALMA executive committee. Following healthy discussion about ALMA activities in general the time arrived to elect the new executive committee. The election was conducted by the secretary as prescribed by the ALMA constitution.

There were only one nomination each for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Accordingly, Br. Mohamed Fazli and Br. Rizvi Fareed were re-elected as President and Vice President for another term of two years. Dr. Mohamed Anzar was elected as the new secretary and Br. Alisabri Haniffa was elected as the new treasurer.

Following a motion put forward by Br. Faazel Muhseen, the AGM authorised the President to appoint the remaining executive committee members in consultation with the other elected office bearers. ALMA president is expected to make an announcement regarding the appointment of the remaining executive committee membership positions as well as heads of the sub committees within the next two weeks.

In the past ALMA AGMs always consisted of a sumptuous lunch or dinner and on this occasion Mutton Biryani Rice with fried Chicken was served for dinner that was enjoyed by all participants. AGM proceedings ended around 10.30 pm.

25th Anniversary Cricket Tournament winners

The Cricket tournament organised by ALMA making their 25th Anniversary Celebrations ended on a very high note of success.   12 Teams participated and after a nail biting semi-finals, Six Hearts became the clear winners on the day.

Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner function July 2016

ALMA had its annual Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner which also contained a segment of ACEP Ramadan competition prize giving as well. This function was attended by a sold-out record crowd of this nature ALMA ever had. It had several activities including trivia and kids games which kept all attendees fully engaged throughout the program.


Ifthar function June 2016

On the invitation of the leader of the opposition (Parliament of NSW) and MP for Auburn, Hon Luke Foley, ALMA’s liaison officer Abdul Gafoor attended an Iftar function on 17th June 2016. Number of dignitaries including Grand Mufti of Australia, state and federal politicians, Islamic scholars, community leaders, leading school principals were among the invited guests.

Edul Fithr July 2016

Alhamdulillah, ALMA had a great Eid Celebration on 6 July 2016 at Turkish Mosque (Youth Centre) in Auburn. A large number of people attended for prayers and thereafter everyone exchanged salams and greetings with each other.
