Eid Mubarak - ALMA to celebrate Eid tomorrow - Sunday 20 September 2009

Eid Mubarak!

ALMA will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday 20 September 2009 at theAuburn Park (corner of Simpson Street and Macquarie Road) Insha Allah.This decision is made following announcement by major Masjids aroundSydney that the Eid-ul-Fitr would fall on 20 September 2009. Takbir will start at 7.30 am and Eid salat will be at 8.00 am. Eid Khutbawill follow Eid salat and would conclude at 8.30 am.

Iftar at NSW Parliament House













ALMA representatives were among those who were invited yesterday for Iftar by the Premier of NSW , The Honourable Nathan Rees to the Parliament House at Macquarie Street Sydney to celebrate Interfaith Harmony.

Community leaders from several religious denominations were present on the occasion where a number of government ministers and commissioners of government agencies joined the Premier in welcoming the guests.

ALMA Secures Regents Park Community Hall

Alhamdulillah, ALMA is one of twelve organisations who have secured approval to use the recently renovated Regents Park community centre. This facility is located in very close proximity to the Regents Park railway station and is adjacent to the library. Plenty of free parking is available in a car park belonging to the Auburn Council that is situated next to the community centre.

Regents Park community hall is managed by the Auburn Council. Expressions of interest from community organisations was called by the Auburn Council late last year (2008) to use the premises following the termination of the previous occupiers of the facility.

Australian Parliamentarian speaks about Ramadhan

Mr. Lauri Ferguson, Federal member for Reed and current parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs and Settlement Services, in a media release, has given a very good background about Muslims fasting in the month of Ramadhan. Some interesting statistics about Muslims and historical background to the original Muslim settlements in Australia by the people of Afghanistan (The Ghans) is also given.
 
Mr. Lauri Ferguson has been closely associated with ALMA for nearly six years and you may recall the encouraging speech he delivered at our young achievers award ceremony in 2007.

Third Iftar in 2009 - another successful event

Alhamdulillah, the third ACEP Iftar yesterday that was conducted in conjunction with the ACEP also saw the beginning of the Ramadhan Qur'an competition. It was very pleasing to see children mostly under the age of 10 years enthusiastically practising before facing two judges who were assigned the task of selecting the best three Qur'an recitations of Sura Yaseen. A smaller group of even younger children also participated in a separate competition for memorising small sura's of the Qur'an

Second Iftar in 2009 draws an even bigger crowd

Alhamdulillah, the second ACEP Iftar yesterday drew more than 250 guests to break their fast at the Auburn Town Hall. The event was attended by a number of guests including the ACEP teachers and their families.

The ALMA organisers had a scare a couple of hours prior to the start of the event as it was found that the council authorities had made a mistake by making a double booking the Auburn Town Hall for another group of Muslims at the same time. Fortunately, the matter was resolved through negotiations with the organisers of the other group who managed to make alternative arrangements at the Auburn Gallipoli Masjid.

First Iftar in 2009 attended by more than 200

This is the first time in ALMA's short history where ALMA had the opportunity to organise an Iftar on the first day of Ramadhan. Alhamdulillah, ever since 2003 when ALMA Community Education Program (ACEP) began to organise weekly Iftar programs in the Somerville Room at the Auburn Council Hall, the enthusiasm to facilitate to break fast of fellow Muslims has steadily grown. This has purely been to reap the rewards and blessings from Allah (SWT) as described in many Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Welcome Ramadhan Event

Alhamdulillah, the welcome Ramadhan event concluded with more than 60 participants attending the program. The event started immediately after the ACEP classes at 6.45 pm with a speech by Br. Mohammed Zaoud reminding about the need for mental, spiritual as well as physical preparation for the month of Ramadhan. It was an inspirational speech that touched the hearts of all participants.

The evening also included a number of presentations from children about Ramadhan. Pizza dinner and a hot cup of tea at the end was enjoyed by all participants.

Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner function July 2016

ALMA had its annual Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner which also contained a segment of ACEP Ramadan competition prize giving as well. This function was attended by a sold-out record crowd of this nature ALMA ever had. It had several activities including trivia and kids games which kept all attendees fully engaged throughout the program.

 

 
Edul Fithr July 2016

Alhamdulillah, ALMA had a great Eid Celebration on 6 July 2016 at Turkish Mosque (Youth Centre) in Auburn. A large number of people attended for prayers and thereafter everyone exchanged salams and greetings with each other.
