ALMA to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday 10 September 2010

Eid Announcement

Eid Mubarak!

ALMA will Insha Allah celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday 10 September 2010 at the Auburn Park (corner of Simpson
Street and Macquarie Road).

This decision is made following announcement by major Masjids around Sydney and the Board of Imams that the Eid-ul-Fitr would fall on 10 September 2010.

Takbir will start at 7.30 am and Eid salat will be at 8.00 am. Eid Khutba will follow Eid salat and would conclude at 8.30 am. Our customary Eid breakfast will be served after the khutba.

You will have an opportunity to pay your Zakat-ul-Fitr before the prayer and it is set at $10 per person.

We take this opportunity to wish all  our members and friends Eid Mubarak and also make dua that all the good deeds in the holy month of Ramadan are accepted by Allah (SWT).

In the event of heavy rain in the early hours of Eid morning, prayers will not be conducted at the Auburn Park, so ALMA requests members and friends to make alternative arrangements to attend Eid prayers at local masjids.

Ramadan Mubarak - Fasting begins Wednesday 11 August 2010

RAMADHAN ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Brothers and Sisters
Assalamu Alaikum

Following consultation with major Masjids in Sydney we can now confirm that fasting begins on Wednesday 11 August 2010 Insha Allah. ALMA executive committee joins me to extend Ramadhan Mubarak to all members and friends for a very beneficial month of Ramadan. Please note that Taraweeh prayers therefore will start tonight (Tuesday).

We understand that a significant number of Muslims will begin fasting on Thursday as well. Therefore we should refrain from vain argument on the matter of "who is right" where highly respected Islamic scholars themselves have not found consensus. We should however remember that Allah (SWT) is generous enough to accept the fasting of all Muslims and open the gates of Al-Rayyan for all.

ALMA has consistently followed the majority community to decide the days of beginning of fasting and the days of Eid.

Please remember to visit this website (www.alma.org.au) for latest updates on ALMA/ACEP announcements.

Lailathul-Qadr Night 2009 - an invitation

ALMA has planned to celebrate the Lailathul Qadr Night event Insha Allah on Friday 11 September 2009. This will coincide with the beginning of the 21st fast of this Ramadhan.

As we all know that the Lailathul Qadr Night could fall on any of the last ten days of Ramadhan, ALMA has chosen the very first day in the last ten days so that members and friends will have more opportunities to celebrate this blessed night in Masjids in the remaining days of Ramadhan.

As the event will involve an all night program, members and friends are kindly requested to give their names if they are planning to stay for the Sahur meal. Please contact us to express your interest to participate in this event.

ALMA AGM to coincide with Eid Celebrations

ALMA executive committee at its last meeting on 1st August 2009 has decided to hold the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 26 Saturday September 2009. This would coincide with the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations already announced as part of Ramdhan planning.

The AGM this year falling on a non-election year will be a short event where the annual reports are scheduled to be tabled.
