ALMA to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on Friday 26 October 2012

First day Dhul Hijja started on Wednesday, 17th October 2012 and accordingly Austra-Lanka Muslim Association (ALMA) will Insha Allah celebrate Eid-ul-Adhha on Friday 26 October 2012.

ALMA has made arrangements for Eid prayers and breakfast at Auburn Park (Cnr of Macquarie Rd and Simpson Street, Auburn 2144).

Prayers/Quthba - 8:00 AM

Followed by exchange of Salams & wishes, and breakfast.

Eid-ul-Adha 2011 and ALMA Eid BBQ

Eid-ul-Adha is just around the corner. It is anticipated that Eid-ul-Adha would fall on Sunday 6 November or Monday 7 November 2011. We will notify the ALMA Eid prayer date when it is confirmed. As usual Eid prayers will be held at Auburn Park Insha Allah.

There are a number of significant acts of Ibadah that relate to Eid-ul-Adha. Fasting on the first nine days of Dhul Hijja and sacrificing a sheep (Qurbaan) on the day of Eid-ul-Adha are two highly recommended acts of Ibadah. Last year ALMA members and friends sponsored 27 Qurbaans, 23 of them were chanelled through Human Appeal International (HAI) charity organisation. ALMA organised a BBQ with 4 Qurbaans for its members and friends.

Ramadhan begins tomorrow (01 Aug 2011)

After considering the announcements about the beginning of Ramadan by majority of Muslim community in Australia, ALMA has decided to inform that the fasting begins on Monday 1 August 2011 Insha Allah.  Please note that Taraweeh prayers therefore will start tonight (Sunday). ALMA executive committee wishes to extend Ramadhan Mubarak to all members and friends for a very beneficial month of Ramadan.

ALMA has consistently followed the majority community to decide the days of beginning of fasting and the days of Eid.

ALMA RAMADHAN and EID PROGRAMMES 2011

Ramadan is getting closer and closer. Insha Allah Ramadhan fasting will begin on Monday 1 August 2011. We will bring more information as we get a bit closer Insha Allah.

ALMA-TAMS picnic day: Sunday 02 January 2011

Due to popular demand ALMA in collaboration with TAMS (Tamilnadu Australian Muslim Society) has planned to have a picnic day BBQ on Sunday 02nd January 2011 at the Community Picnic Area, off Killeen Street Auburn. The venue has been booked for our exclusive use from 9.00 am until 6.00 pm.

The events will be very similar to the one that was organised on the Eid-ul-Adha BBQ. The sporting events will include a Tamilnadu vs Sri Lanka friendly Cricket match in addition to our traditional races and tug-o-war competitions. A treasure hunt event is also part of the schedule.

Eid Mubarak Eid-ul-Adha 2010 and Eid Picnic Day

ALMA will celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on Tuesday 16 November 2010 Insha Allah. We take this opportunity to wish all our members and friends a very happy Eid Mubarak. We also ask Dua that Allah (SWT) accept the Hajj of millions of muslims who have gathered in the holy city of Makkah for the holy pilgrimage.

ALMA organised Eid prayers will be held at the Auburn Park, corner of Macquarie Rd and Simpson St with Takbir beginning at 7.30 am. Eid salat will be at 8.00 am followed by Eid Khutbah concluding at 8.30 am.

ALMA calls for AGM - 2010 on Saturday16th October

ALMA secretary Br. Azeem Nilar has given notice to the membership that Saturday 16 October will be the date for the next AGM Insha Allah. The venue for the occasion will be Dundas Community Centre, 21 Sturt Street Telopia.

Dr. Abdullah Periyardhasan is a highly renowned psychologist from India whose life journey from Polytheism to Atheism and then to Monotheism is intriguing and fascinating. He is also a visiting professor at the University of California in the USA and a former film actor in India.

Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations dinner 2010

As you are aware, ALMA brought to you a series of events as part of Ramadhan activities in 2010. Alhamdulillah we are now at the final event of that scheduled events: "ALMA Eid celebrations and dinner". This event is scheduled for Saturday 18 September 2010 at the Dundas community centre, 21 Sturt Street Telopia.

The agenda for the day also includes giving away prizes for winners of "ALMA Ramadhan competition" that was held during the last two weeks of Ramadhan. The hall opens at 5.00 pm and we have allocated plenty of time for a joyful evening.

Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner function July 2016

ALMA had its annual Eid-ul-Fitr Dinner which also contained a segment of ACEP Ramadan competition prize giving as well. This function was attended by a sold-out record crowd of this nature ALMA ever had. It had several activities including trivia and kids games which kept all attendees fully engaged throughout the program.

 

 
Edul Fithr July 2016

Alhamdulillah, ALMA had a great Eid Celebration on 6 July 2016 at Turkish Mosque (Youth Centre) in Auburn. A large number of people attended for prayers and thereafter everyone exchanged salams and greetings with each other.

Ifthar function June 2016

On the invitation of the leader of the opposition (Parliament of NSW) and MP for Auburn, Hon Luke Foley, ALMA’s liaison officer Abdul Gafoor attended an Iftar function on 17th June 2016. Number of dignitaries including Grand Mufti of Australia, state and federal politicians, Islamic scholars, community leaders, leading school principals were among the invited guests.

 
Ramadan 2016

ALMA had its first (of the four) Ifthars this Ramadan on 11th June 2016 at Auburn Town Hall. Alhamdulillah, over 400 people were estimated to be present. An inspiring speech was delivered by Zac Matthews (Dr Zachariah Matthews) soon after Magrib prayers.

ALMA had the opportunity to launch the much awaited JANAZA fund and introduce the Janaza Subcommittee on that night. Alhamdulillah, over 75 family and individual members were signed up for this programme immediately. Members were also generous enough to contribute to the annual dry-rations project - the funds of which will be sent to Sri Lanka and distributed among poor and needy families in various parts of Sri Lanka next week Insha Allah.
